With many of our schools inviting parents to attend one of their Parent or Academic Review Evenings this term, it it is an ideal time to remind ourselves why these are so important and why they really matter.

The Parent and Academic Review Evenings offered by the schools within our trust are a wonderful chance for families and teachers to come together and celebrate pupils’ achievements, talk through any challenges, and make sure every child feels supported both at home and in school.

When parents attend, it makes a huge difference. These conversations help you see exactly how your child is getting on—what they’re enjoying, where they’re shining, and where a little extra support might help. Teachers also gain helpful insights from you, giving them a better understanding of your child as a whole person.

Review evenings are also a great time to hear about your child’s friendships, their confidence, and how they’re managing day‑to‑day. And when pupils come along too, it encourages them to feel proud of their achievements and take more responsibility for their learning.

Making the Most of Your Visit

Here are a few simple tips to help you get the best out of the evening:

  • Bring a few questions you’d like to ask—about progress, next steps, or how you can help at home.
  • Have a quick look through recent work or reports so you feel prepared for the conversation.
  • Work together with the teacher—sharing what you see at home helps us support your child even more effectively.

By attending one of the Parent/Academic Review Evenings, you’re helping to build a strong partnership that puts your child’s wellbeing and success at the heart of everything we do.
